Basic Winching Workshop - Chennai

A winch is a great recovery tool and if used properly can give you years of service and serve you well. If misused can be fairly dangerous as well. This workshop guides you through basic winching techniques.

Course Dates:

There will be two batches of 10-15 paricipants. One batch on 20th August (saturday) and one on 21st Augsut (sunday).

Both batches start at 11am. Exact venue will be intimated via WhatsApp on a common group.

Theory: Theory will be held online via zoom on17th August (Wednesday) night for both batches together, Link will be shared via WhatsApp.

The following will be covered:

On field exercises:

1. understanding winch components (what we learnt in theory)

2. handling diff types of cables (metal and synthetic)

3. Daisy chaining

4. Demos on single line pull, double line, triple line pull, winch re direct and using winch extension cables and then self practice by participants

5. Using ground anchors demo and practice

6. Re winding of a winch and bird's nest

7. Using aids to prevent winch line abrasion

8. Using special winch setups like spanish burton

9. Demo using specialised equipment like x lock, etc to lower a car

10. Vehicle recovery calculations

11. Safety Precautions

12. Basic Maintenance

Please carry your own safety gloves and any recovery equipment you own Gloves are a must!
